The Municipality of Balingasag is one of the most populous towns in Misamis Oriental outside of two cities. With nearly 70,000 inhabitants, it even has a larger population than El Salvador City (45,000).
A second-class municipality, Balingasag is known for its numerous heritage ancestral houses with the Vega Ancestral House as the most popular being visited by tourists.
Its Memory Park and Baywalk is also a must-visit with a relaxing view of the bay.
Today, the town’s 195-hectare Mariculture Park is putting Balingasag in the world map with its increasing fish exports abroad.
