You might have noticed the unusual clear roads around Cogon Market. This is due to the continuous clearing operations conducted by the coordinated effort by the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA), Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), City Economic Enterprise Department (CEED) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).
The joint team has been conducting clearing operations twice a day around the market for more than a week now. Yesterday was the eleventh (11th) straight day of said operations which included clearing the roads with ambulant vendors, illegal structures, traffic violators and others which affect market operations and traffic flow in the area.
Accordingly, market stall owners have been complaining of decreased revenues due to the presence of street vendors. Motorists likewise are grumbling about the vendors who have occupied street lanes including some used for parking particularly during rush hours when traffic is heavy.
