Cagayan de Oro’s Milan Melindo will be taking on IBF junior flyweight champ Akira Yaegashi of Japan this Sunday, May 21, at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo in what could possibly his last chance to win a world title.

The 29-year old Melindo lost in his first two attempts at a world crown in 2013, against Juan Francisco Estrada and in 2015, against Javier Mendoza, both Mexicans and seemed to have lost his hunger for a title after so-so performances against mediocre fighters in two fights after the loss to Mendoza.

However, Melindo bounced back by winning the IBF world Jr. Flyweight title over IBF-ranked Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. of Thailand last November earning a shot at Yaegashi.
