The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) today formally launched its first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Information Kiosk in Northern Mindanao at Laguindingan Airport.
The kiosk which is located at the arrival area of the airport contains materials about ASEAN, its history and priorities, and the Philippines hosting of ASEAN’s 50th year anniversary including Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials from other national government agencies and local government units in Northern Mindanao. Brochures, flyers and newsletters are available for free at the kiosk.
The kiosk at Laguindingan Airport is one among several ASEAN info kiosks put up by PIA in key strategic areas nationwide to raise awareness and appreciation of ASEAN and its benefits to the country and the Filipino people as part of its communication support to ASEAN.
PIA Director General Harold Clavite (photo above) led the formal launching of the PIA ASEAN Info Kiosk together with Provincial Board Member Gerard Sabal (representing Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vicente Emano), CAAP Laguindingan Airport Manager Jose Budiongan and PIA Northern Mindanao Officer-in-Charge Franklin Gumapon.
The affair started with a special number by the Gintong Amihan Dance Troupe of University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines (USTP).

Meanwhile, PIA has partnered with the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) for another ASEAN info kiosk which will be opened inside the university campus tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10. A forum will follow which will feature discussions on AmBisyon Natin 2040 by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), ASEAN Trade and Investment Opportunities by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and ASEAN 2017 by PIA International Relations Committee.
PIA-10 has scheduled series of campus forum regionwide to educate the youth sector on the relevance of ASEAN and pitch support to the Philippines hosting of ASEAN 2017. The first leg of ASEAN campus forum was held at the Central Mindanao University in Maramag, Bukidnon last April 27.
The Philippines is holding this year the chairmanship of the ASEAN in accordance with the regular rotation of chairmanship among the ASEAN member. The theme this year is “Partnering for change, Engaging the world.”
