The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal from service of two ranking police officers of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO). Superintendent John Michael Deloso and PO3 Ernesto Galleto were both found guilty for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019).
Based on a report from Bombo Radyo, the decision means both Deloso and Galleto will not be entitled of their retirement benefits and their civil service eligibility canceled.
It can be recalled that in March 2014, Deloso, then head of COCPO’s Traffic Division and his subordinate SPO3 Galleto, were arrested in an entrapment operation at a downtown hotel by the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly extorting money from the Xavier Heights Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association. Authorities recovered P6,000 marked money from the suspects.
The complaint was filed by Atty. Ernie Palanan, president of the association who said Deloso had been demanding money since December 2013.
