Aside from the National Steel Corp. (NSC) in Iligan City, the government is also looking at Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental for the revival of the steel industry. This was bared by Ramon “RJ” Jacinto, presidential adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology Communications during the recent Infrastructure Congress and Expo Philippines held May 3-5 at World Trade Center in Manila.

Based on an article from The Manila Times, Jacinto said the government is looking for other new sites like Phividec because the revival of the NSC also includes hurdling financial issues due to NSC’s existing loans with banks. Not only that, it requires foreign investment for the technology aspect.
