Several units of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) have already moved to its new headquarters located at the old city cemetery site at Brgy. 40 near the City Health Office.
The administration, logistics, police community relations, investigation, tourist police, and patrol units have started using the new 1,000-sqm building last Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
It can be recalled that construction of the P20 million office began in June 2011 and completed in 2013 but the building was not used because it still lacked basic utilities such as electricity and water.
Now, with all power and water connections in place, the city’s police have become closer to the city center. Still, some special police units such as intelligence and operation as well as the detention cells remain at the old Maharlika headquarters in Carmen. The new building’s detention facility is still in the works but will be operational soon.
