Two boxers, the elementary boys baseball team and the secondary boys lawn tennis doubles grabbed the last gold medals for the delegation from Northern Mindanao as it edged Central Visayas to finish in 8th place at the close of the 2017 Palarong Pambansa in San Jose, Antique.
Overall, Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) finished with 20 golds, 20 silvers and 42 bronzes. Last year, NMRAA placed 5th with 25-24-36 gold-silver-bronze count.

Boxers Mario Angelo Vidal and Jericho Acaylar won gold medals in boxing.

The secondary boys lawn tennis doubles team also grabbed the gold.
Meanwhile, the elementary boys baseball team annihilated Central Luzon, 16-6 in the gold medal game and earned the right to represent the Philippines in the Asia Pacific Regional Baseball Championship in Korea on July this year.
Liceo de Cagayan University’s Aikojen Ratunil won the gold in Secondary Girls Taekwondo’s Kyurogi Heavyweight.
