Special athletes from the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletics Association (NMRAA) produced 4 gold medals, 2 silvers and a bronze in the special events of the ongoing 2017 Palarong Pambansa at the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose, Antique.

Visually impaired Rommel Alim of Iligan City won the gold in the Shot Put event with a heave of 8.80 meters. It was his 3rd consecutive Palaro gold. He later bagged the silver medal in the Boys Long Jump and a bronze in the 100-meter run.

Meanwhile, Bukidnon’s Cherry Lade Quimba of Quezon Central School SPED Center who’s totally blind won the gold in the Girls Long Jump. Read Rappler.com’s story HERE.

Danica Ernha Araneta of Manolo Fortich Central School also won the gold in Girls Shot Put with a heave of 7.51 meters.

Jepee Arong of Malaybalay Central School SPED Center won NMRAA’s 4th gold in the special events by ruling the 100 meter run for boys.

Gideon Antipasado of Malaybalay CS SPED Center bagged the silver in the shot put event. Here’s the medal tally so far.
