Police Supt. Maria Cristina Nobleza’s affair with Abu Sayyaf terrorist Renierlo Dongon (corrected spelling) began when the suspected bomb maker was arrested in Marawi City in 2013 in connection with the 2012 Maxandrea Hotel bombing incident in Cagayan de Oro City.
Nobleza was then assigned at the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and was tasked to interrogate Dongon who was then detained at PAOCC. But accordingly, Dongon was released due to technicality and the warrant of arrest for double murder (Maxandrea bombing) was issued by the court when he was already out. – (GMA News)
PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa said Nobleza went on with the love affair despite being married to a police official.
In a news report by Mindanao Times, Nobleza who is now assigned at the Regional Crime Laboratory Office in Davao City called her superior Supt. Georby Manuel last April 18 that she was going to attend a Human Resource Management Officers Course in Camp Crame, Quezon City from April 19 to May 17.
But a few days later, both Nobleza and Dongon were arrested when their vehicle tried to hurdle an army checkpoint in Clarin, Bohol.
From ABS-CBN News, Nobleza is 49 years old and is from Naga City, Camarines Sur. She is now separated from her husband (also a police officer). She entered the police force in 1996 and became a member of PNP’s Task Force Smuggling, the Anti-Illegal Gambling Special Operations Task Force, and the Police Anti-Crime and Emergency Response Force. She also served as Chief of the Intelligence Operation Division of the Directorate for Intelligence prior to her return to the Crime Laboratory in 2012 and was assigned in Bicol Region.
Later, in 2013-2014, she was transferred to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, and the Office of the Chief PNP before she was assigned to the now-defunct PNP-Anti Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) in 2016.
When President Rodrigo Duterte dissolved the AIDG, she returned to her mother unit in the Crime Lab and became Assistant Regional Chief of Region 11 only last February 24, 2017.
While in Davao City, she was already a Balik Islam convert. Her colleagues were surprised that she turned down an offer of boarding house where she could stay and opted to stay in a hotel instead which was too expensive.
Nobleza is said to undergo inquest proceedings in Tagbiliran City, Bohol before she will be transported to Camp Crame.
