Yellow Boxes are placed in strategic areas in Cagayan de Oro City to serve as loading and unloading zones for public utility vehicles (PUV).
Basically, parking is not allowed in these ‘boxes’. But sometimes (or perhaps more often), the riding public find it hard to get a ride and/or PUV drivers not able to load or unload passengers in these designated areas as private vehicles with their hazard lights on occupy them for quite a period of time as shown below. This is a major Yellow Box at Divisoria along Don Apolinar Velez Street. As shown, there’s no room for loading and unloading as six (6) four-wheeled vehicles on ‘hazard’ and a motorcycle have occupied the entire Yellow Box.
In fairness, some vehicles on ‘hazard’ mode leave quickly while others really tend to spend a considerable time until completion of certain transactions in nearby establishments.
