FO1 Katrina Alaba of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) holds Bricks Fire Dioqinio, the baby born right in front of the Cagayan de Oro Fire Station last April 11.

Photo below shows Alaba (left) and FO1 Felez Marie Macasusi during their visit to the mother in her house at Ramonal Village in Upper Camaman-an. The two together with FO1 Nikko Causin and FO1 Kent Ajan looked for the family after the mother had already checked out of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC). They finally found the mother in her home in Ramonal Village.

What’s exceptional to the incident is that FO1 Alaba is a Non-Commissioned Fire Officer (NCFO) assigned to logistics and not part of the emergency response unit. She was also already off-duty at the time of the incident but her dedication to her work was just outstanding. She’s shown below holding the 1-day old baby with the mother watching.

The BFP personnel brought goods to the family who are in dire need of financial help and social services.
