An afternoon fire damaged at least ten (10) classrooms at the West City Central School in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City today, Good Friday.

Radio reports state that the fire which is now under control destroyed one of the old 2-storey buildings of the school. A new school building is just across the gutted classrooms. Some teachers interviewed said some school documents were destroyed by the fire. Browse over Facebook photos by Nino Contreras below.

Initial investigation by firemen revealed the fire started from the school canteen and quickly spread to the second floor. Estimated cost of damage is at P1.5 million.

Fire investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.
