Motorists in Cagayan de Oro are now getting used in taking another alternate route to and from Uptown area just to avoid the traffic along Masterson Avenue.
Previously, there were only two usual routes to Uptown CDO: (1) via SM Bypass Road passing City Landfill, and (2) via Pelaez Bridge in Taguanao. In taking option 1, motorists had to endure the foul smell in passing the city dumpsite whereas the latter is a much longer circuitous route and takes more fuel than usual.
Now, with concreting of road networks now complete at Zone 10 Upper Carmen, motorists now have another option to avoid the traffic at Masterson Avenue especially at the junction at Macanhan Road. As shown below, the route starts from Zayas-Landfill Road and goes uphill through Zone 10 Upper Carmen and exits at Masterson Avenue just before Chinese Cemetery.
Although the road is narrower, there is no traffic.
You won’t get lost as the road is just straight with slight bends before a hard left towards Masterson Avenue.
Concreting took almost 2 years until it was finally completed late last year.
Residents in the area are already familiar with this route for many years but more motorists are now becoming aware with the route after the landslide at Masterson Avenue near Pryce Plaza in January this year had motorists looking for other access.
As of today, concreting of road networks in Upper Carmen is still ongoing providing more additional options for motorists.
