Yesterday, March 16, residents in Cagayan de Oro were surprised of the presence of fighter jets zooming in the sunny skies. Actually, the new fighter jets are the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) brand-new FA-50 “Golden Eagle” jet fighters which conducted their Mindanao leg of their overflight missions yesterday morning.
According to a report from Business Mirror, the overflights covered the airspace of Cagayan de Oro, Butuan and Surigao cities at around 10:00AM. This is the first time the jets flew over Mindanao. The FA-50 jets were the latest delivery of the 12-plane order from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). Six more FA-50 jets will be delivered soon.
