Everything is set for the 75th commemoration of General Douglas MacArthur’s breakout which Cagayan de Oro City is celebrating with a week-long activities starting with the Re-enactment of MacArthur’s Arrival tomorrow, March 13 at Macabalan Pier.
Below is the full schedule of the activities.
The vintage car which will be used in tomorrow’s re-enactment is now positioned at the MacArthur Memorial Marker.
The re-enactment of the arrival precedes a convoy to Manolo Fortich town at the former Del Monte Airfield where General MacArthur departed to Australia.
Meanwhile, the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines will honor a local scout, Abelardo “Loloy” Neri Queppet, who as a 14-year old boy scout in 1942 met MacArthur as the general was disembarking at the pier. Read his story HERE.
Also during the week, Centrio will be screening two historical movies for free. Unsurrendered 2 and Valor: The Legacy of Col. Emmanuel V. De Ocampo will be screened from 8:00am to 10:00am in all Centrio Mall Cinemas.
There will also be exhibits related to the event at Centrio Mall and at Liceo de Cagayan University Library.
