Cagayan de Oro City Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy prefers the establishment of a casino in the city far from the downtown area.

In a news report from Gold Star Daily, Vice Mayor Uy said casino operations help in the tourism, business, employment as well as entertainment industry. Further, revenues from the operations can also help in the city’s social, health and development programs.

This amid the proposal by Limketkai and Sons Inc. for a casino at their complex which is located at the heart of the city’s business district just a few blocks away from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP). In an early report, nine (9) city councilors have expressed support of the proposal. Read LINK.

Accordingly, public hearings will be held soonest once he receives the copy of the proposal.

So far, members of the clergy and the academe have expressed opposition to the planned casino project.
