Construction of the 660-meter Macabalan-Bonbon Bridge Project linking the two coastal villages in Cagayan de Oro City has began.

As shown below, the first set of round steel casings for the bridge piers are now being placed at Bonbon side.

More of these casings are found onsite.

The bridge will divert the flow of port-bound cargo trucks and vehicles from the Kauswagan-Puntod Bridge.

This is the billboard installed along the bridge approach route in Bonbon.

The project is a joint venture between UKC Builders and M. Montesclaros Enterprises. Perhaps UKC will build the Bonbon side while the latter the Macabalan side. As indicated, it will be a Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG) Bridge similar to the Kauswagan-Bonbon Bridge.

Here’s the bridge rendering.

The bridge approach avoids the mangrove area.

Keep posted.
