The new logo of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has just been revealed.
As shown below, the new university logo has several connected dots which resembled the shape of the island of Mindanao. Perhaps the connected dots relate to information technology network. The school has been named a Center of Excellence for Information Technology by CHED. Below it is the school’s initials and the founding year (1927). Note that the official initials will be USTP and not USTSP. The main colors (blue and yellow/gold) of the previous MUST logo are still carried in the new one. The final logo came after a logo design competition was held last year. The official explanation of the new logo will be made during the grand launching of the school’s new name on March 27, 2017.
Previously known as Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), the school officially became the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTSP) thru Republic Act No. 10919 which lapsed into law last July 21, 2016 without the signature of the President of the Philippines in accordance with Article IV, Section 27 (1) of the Constitution.
