Motorists can now pass thru the old Opol Bridge near Opol Public Market after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) temporarily stopped one of two bridge projects in Opol town due to numerous complaints about the heavy traffic in the area in the past few days.
In a report at SunStar CDO, the DPWH will temporarily stop the Opol Bridge Project near the town market and instead prioritize the Igpit Bridge Project located near the junction of Route 9 and Bulua-Igpit Bypass Road.
Heavy traffic has been experienced in the area after the DPWH diverted vehicular flow to the newly constructed elevated structures on both bridge projects. The dilemma has brought inconvenience to thousands of motorists daily from dawn to late at night including those with scheduled flights to Laguindingan Airport.
Both bridge projects are targeted for completion in May 2017. It will have 6 lanes when completed.
