Sunday shoppers, market goers and bystanders in Cogon area were suddenly in momentary panic mode this afternoon after multiple gunshots rang out. When the smoke cleared, three men including two motorcycle-riding hitmen lay dead in a shootout along Yacapin-Daumar Streets near Cogon Market in Cagayan de Oro City.
In a news report from ABS-CBN News (LINK), the first victim was identified as Mawi Solaiman and working as a cashier at a popular “ukay-ukay” store located in the area. Accordingly, he was shot by three unidentified hitmen on board a motorcycle. Two of the hitmen were then killed as somebody returned fire at the suspects. The third suspect managed to escape.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and magazine from the dead suspects.
Accordingly, police investigators are looking into “rido” or clan war as the motive of the shooting.
