Senator Leila De Lima should now face the music. Thus President Rodrigo Duterte’s words after the Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday filed three separate drug cases at Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court against the senator for her involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison.

In a report from GMA Network, government prosecutors alleged that De Lima tolerated drug syndicates inside the New Bilibid Prison in exchange for campaign funds in the 2016 polls while she was justice secretary.

More specifically, the charge stated De Lima violated Section 5 and Section 28 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which pertains to the sale and trade of illegal drugs, and the criminal liability of government officials and employees. The cases will be raffled on Monday. If the judge sees probable cause, he or she may issue a warrant of arrest. Accordingly, violators of Section 5 of RA 9165 are not entitled to bail.

Below are the first pages of the three cases filed against De Lima and several others including his lover-driver Ronnie Dayan.
