The City Council of Cagayan de Oro is now reviewing the permitting process for telecommunication companies for streamline purposes. This is a result of a recent city council committee meeting wherein it was revealed that the inadequacy of telecommunication network infrastructures is resulting to slower wireless internet speed.
During the said meeting, it was gathered that the establishment of one cell site requires 26 procedures and most come from the local government unit. The telecommunication providers said due to the limited coverage, subscribers are often lumped into one cell site resulting to congestion. Coupled with a booming economy, the need for faster internet services is hampered with this inadequacy.
The move by the city council is also in support to President Duterte’s call for streamlining of government permitting procedures.
