Cagayan de Oro City led by City Mayor Oscar Moreno recently attended the two-day Sustainable Land Governance Conference held February 8-9, 2017 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.

The event which was organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and part of the Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) Project held several multi-disciplinary discussions on sustainable land governance focusing on policy reforms, urban land constraints, assets management, and technology  solutions in land administration, among others.

Cagayan de Oro was invited and presented the topic on urban land constraints. The city’s challenge on land management dwell on the fact that 92% of the city’s population live in 20% of the total land area. USAID thru the SURGE Project is assisting the city on this issue.
