Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines is set to host one of several meetings and discussions for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) of which the country will chair this year. Based on the ASEAN calendar, the city will host the Special Senior Officials’ Committee to ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council (SOCA) Meeting on July 10-11, 2017. See screenshot below.

ASEAN government officials and business leaders are expected to come to the city during the event which is expected to boost the local economy as well as tourism. Venue is yet to be disclosed. The ASEAN is composed of 10 member countries – host Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos.
