There was no surprise that Cagayan de Oro was envisioned to become the country’s 4th metropolitan economic center.
After all, the city’s strategic location makes it an ideal investment destination. With a deep natural harbor and with close proximity to the Visayas, the city is a major transshipment hub and key logistical point in the transport of goods and services both in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Shown below is the city in the foreground and Phividec area in the background, a major industrial center in the province.
From the agricultural farms in the provinces, the city as a main transshipment hub is a vital segment in the shipping of farm products to Visayas and Luzon. Usually, many food supplies pass thru the city for typhoon-hit areas in Luzon.
Hopefully, when the time comes, government authorities would have presented a workable, appropriate, comprehensive and effective metropolitan urban plan.
