Designers of the pedestrian overpass linking Gaisano and Centrio Malls along CM Recto Avenue in Cagayan de Oro City may have underestimated the volume of foot traffic crossing the overpass. Or perhaps the structure lacked necessary railings to ensure smooth flow of pedestrians.

Shown below is the clogged-up overpass.

The trouble actually starts when fast moving people tend to overtake slow moving persons thereby creating two lines in the narrow overpass blocking the line of people moving to the opposite direction. With the holiday shopping spree now starting, expect this to be a daily occurrence until authorities put measures to address the concern.
