800 attend 3rd International River Summit in CDO




Some 800 delegates from local and international organizations attended the just concluded 3rd International River Summit held November 24-26, 2016 at Pryce Plaza Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

Plenary and thematic sessions were conducted during the summit which had a them “Healthy Watershed, Clean Rivers, Safer Communities”. Among the international speakers included Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Igor A. Khovaev and Mr. Adrian Evans, Festival Director and Pageant Master of Totally Thames London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Former XU President Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ was the keynote speaker.

At the end of the 3-day summit, it was announced that Mandaue City will be the host of the 4th International River Summit in 2018.

Mr. Adrian Evans said the famed Thames River in London was considered a dead river in the 1960s.
