The new road numbering system

You might have noticed these newly-installed posts bearing the number “945” along Vamenta Boulevard in Cagayan de Oro City. The number indicated actually refers to a specific route number based on the new route numbering system being implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) throughout the country. In the province of Misamis Oriental, these specific routes are numbered 9, 10, 945, 946, and 955.

  • Route 9 – refers to the Butuan City-Cagayan de Oro City-Iligan City Rd (National Highway)
  • Route 10 – Sayre Highway
  • Route 945 – Carmen-Patag-Bulua Rd, Don A. Velez St., Vamenta Blvd, Airport Road (Masterson Ave.), then to Talakag in Bukidnon and finally ending at Maramag Junction of Sayre Highway.
  • Route 946 – Corrales Ext. to Cagayan de Oro Port
  • Route 955 – Gingoog-Claveria-Villanueva Rd

Here’s are maps for your reference (taken from DPWH Website).

Route numbering is easy to remember because many road names are usually changed in honor of a person or event of historical importance of a locality.

Thanks for this info. I thought these numbers indicate the distance of the post towards the road center. Hahaha.. Now, I’m informed. 🙂

The sidewalk where that 945 signpost is planted is not cemented if you notice. At dawn a lot of garbage are dumped there for collection. During rainy days, water pools and you have to carefully traverse in order not to get wet. Why???
