After it was known to the public that the newly-completed Sapang Bridge failed to solve the flooding woes of a section of the National Highway at the Kauswagan-Bulua boundary in Cagayan de Oro City, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) decided to construct two (2) lateral drains in the said area.
The first one shown below is near Rural Transit’s garage crossing towards S&R Cagayan de Oro. Photos were taken several days back.
A second lateral outlet followed right beside Toyota Showroom.
You can see they’re building a rectangular shaped drainage structure.
Obviously, the purpose is to reduce the volume of water flowing towards Sapang Bridge by providing lateral access to the westbound drainage.
Will this development finally solve the flooding in the area? Motorists and residents in Bulua, Iponan and nearby towns would really appreciate if this is the solution.
