Golden Heritage Polytechnic College in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City has been in the limelight lately due to its controversial policy of prohibiting intimate relationship between its male and female students. But do you know the said policy has produced a topnotcher in Miriam Aranzado Miranda who placed No. 1 in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (L.E.T.) given last September 29, 2013? We have featured the feat in 2013 HERE.
Miranda was the school’s first ever topnotcher.
It all started with a report from the local ABS-CBN which was featured on national TV and showed a large tarpaulin erected at the school’s entrance stating its controversial policy. As stated, the institution forbids its students from having a romantic relationship with the opposite sex as long as they are enrolled to prevent cases of teenage pregnancies.
As quoted in the news, School President Capt. Tito Dichosa said his only wish for his students is to finish college, adding that it frustrates him whenever a student gets pregnant and stops studying. To mention, six students were expelled from the said school last year for violating the prohibition
The school policy has so far drawn mixed reactions among netizens so far.
