Cagayan de Oro’s Jiovani Jalalon and former Xavier University standout John Paul Erram, were named in the 24-man pool for Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA Asia Challenge in Iran in September.
Jalalon was a member of the Gilas Cadet team which won the 2016 SEABA Stankovic Cup in Thailand in May this year. The speedy 5’9 Arellano University standout is considered as the best amateur point guard in the country today.
Meanwhile, the vastly-improved 6’8 Erram is playing his best basketball with Blackwater Elite in the PBA. Erram was recruited to play for Ateneo de Manila after being discovered during the Philippine Collegiate Champions League while playing for XU in Cagayan de Oro City.
Both players have their own skills and are strong contenders for the final 12-man line-up.
