MindaRail bill filed in Senate

In support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s statements in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on the Mindanao Rail Project, Senator Sonny Angara filed a bill creating the state-owned Mindanao Railways Corporation, boosting a move he likened to laying the first administrative track in building a railway in the world’s 10th most populous island.

In Senate Bill 137’s explanatory note, Angara said establishing the “MindaRail” would allow the island’s urban centers and growth corridors such as the cities of Davao, General Santos, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Malaybalay to be linked by rail.

As indicated in earlier plans, Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of a 124-km rail line from Iligan City to Cagayan de Oro City traversing 10 coastal municipalities in Misamis Oriental including Lugait, Manticao, Naawan, Initao, Liberated, Gitagum, Laguindingan, Alubi-jid, El Salvador and Opol.

Is train terminal in laguindingan included? It would be a great help for both CDO and Iligan to have an other option going to Laguindingan Airport!
