Former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr. and Aquilino Martin “Koko” de la Llana Pimentel III made Philippine history on Monday, July 25, 2016 as the country’s first ever Father and Son elected Senate Presidents.
The Pimentel patriarch was Senate President from November 13, 2000 to July 23, 2001, and co-presided the impeachment trial of then President Joseph Estrada. Meanwhile, Koko Pimentel, who topped the BAR Exams in 1990, started his tenure last July 25, 2016 with neophyte Senator Manny Pacquiao administering his oath of office.
