Effective Monday, August 1, 2016, citizens may now access the Citizen Complaint Hotline 8888, a 24-hour hotline for public complaints, and the Emergency Hotline 911.
All 8888 calls will be connected to the Civil Service Commission and Presidential Action Center. With 8888, Filipinos can call in to report corrupt officials, underperforming government personnel, and unfinished government projects.
Meanwhile, Emergency Hotline 911 will replace the current 117 Emergency Hotline and will be linked to the Nationwide Emergency Response Center. Hotline 911 will handle calls for police assistance, fire fighters and medical personnel for emergencies.
President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier warned prank callers to not waste the government’s time and resources.
