The cash reward has increased to P80,000 for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the gruesome killing of a minor inside a hotel in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
According to radio reports, former City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula has offered P20,000 in addition to the P50,000 cash reward by the City Government and P10,000 from the hotel to any person who can provide vital information on the suspect. Below was the official press statement by City Mayor Oscar Moreno released last Wednesday.
See below a collage of photos of the suspect (from Menzie Montes’ FB page) taken from the hotel’s CCTV footage. Police are still verifying the true identity of the suspect who used the name “Jason Caramba” from Cebu City, on the hotel’s guest list. (Details on Sun Star article by Jigger J. It can be recalled that last July 12, a 17-year old female was found lifeless with her face bruised and covered with a plastic bag inside the bathroom of a hotel in Lapasan.
Police reports revealed the suspect and victim met thru a pimp upon the request of the suspect for an agreed price of P5,000 for the girl’s services, with P2,000 as the pimp’s commission (Read Sun Star article by Pamela Jay Orias HERE). However, latest postmortem examination by the Scene of the Crime Operative (SOCO) revealed no sexual intercourse between the victim and suspect (Details on Gold Star Daily article by Nitz Arancon HERE).
Meanwhile, police are still looking at all angles in their investigation including a 2015 rape case against a local barangay official of which the victim was the complainant.
