The business community in Uptown Cagayan de Oro has joined forces to form a free association called “Uptown Cagayan de Oro Association”. Uptown Cagayan de Oro is comprised of Upper Canitoan, Upper Carmen, Upper Balulang and Lumbia.
The ultimate goal of this association is the economic development of Uptown with investments and value adding activities from industry operators, institutional and private investors, the media, public and private executives and foreign and Filipino economic organizations and associations.
The founding corporations and entities are Oro Chamber, CEPALCO, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Italpinas Development Corporation, Pueblo de Oro, SM City Cagayan de Oro, Xavier Manresa, Xavier Estates and Fino Land Inc.
The following officers have been elected last April 22, 2016: The President, Mr. Lorens Ziller (VP of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and Head of Corporate Affairs of Italpinas Development Corporation); Vice President, Ms. Clara G. Elizaga (Mall General Manager, SM City Cagayan de Oro); Secretary, Ms. Mequesa Marie S. Chan (Product Manager, Pueblo de Oro) Treasurer, Ms. Heidi Grace de Castro, facility administrator of Xavier Manresa.
One of the first projects of the association will be the participation of a seminar for investing and doing business in the Philippines planned by the Italian Chamber in Hong Kong and the support of the fun run of XU Manresa and several activities during the Cagayan de Oro fiesta both in August 2016.
Lorens Ziller, president of the Uptown association noted: “Promoting an area like Uptown Cagayan de Oro as a group effort will make it easier to attract investments and business operators on a national and also international level. We have to create opportunities that bring jobs and further economic, social and cultural development. Thanks to our cooperation and constant communication among us this part of town can really flourish faster. Uptown is in fact the best place to work and live in Cagayan de Oro and a great example all over the Philippines.”
