CDO’s Lumbia Airport among 5 EDCA agreed locations


It’s final. The old Lumbia Airport has been identified as among five (5) military installations in the country where the Americans can build facilities under the Enhanced Defense Agreement Cooperation (EDCA). This was agreed during the sixth Bilateral Strategic Dialogue in Washington DC.

The five are:

  • Antonio Bautista Air Base in Puerto Princesa, Palawan
  • Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga
  • Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija
  • Lumbia Air Base in Cagayan de Oro
  • Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base in Mactan

    Frankly, i would have wanted the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT came first, before the screeching jets of the PAF 15th Strike Wing (attack helicopters and MG50s), plus the huge C130Cs of the USAF come to destroy the peace and quiet of Lumbia,.. but there are Chinese and insurgency issues connected here, sadly…

    Plus, all decisions will once again come from faraway Manila ,, UNLESS, we go Federalism and place the future of the place in the capable hands of local, Federal State of Mindanao officials, and LOCAL concerned citizens like us!
