Sipaka – a growing Holy Week destination in Misamis Oriental

Sipaka (Sipaca) is an islet in the municipality of Talisayan in Misamis Oriental province directly facing the island of Camiguin.

For over a decade now, local tourists have been flocking to this site during the Holy Week and numbers of trekkers have been increasing each year.

This year, the “Pamalandong sa Sipaka” is set on March 23-27, 2016.

Penitents and tourists climb the peak with stations of the cross along the way. See below the large cross at the peak.

A viewing deck commands a spectacular view of the open sea and Camiguin.

Because Sipaka is along the coast, the sea breeze is just comforting for trekkers.
