The Macasandig-Balulang Bridge, the 7th bridge that will span the Cagayan de Oro River, is set to be constructed soon.
Local residents in the area said engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have already started conducting surveys in the area. Photos below are two possible bridge routes based on information we have gathered as to the latest location of the bridge….latest because the initial bridge route was south of Tibasak Covered Court but accordingly, it was relocated due mainly to right-of-way concerns. As gathered, the latest route begins at the Sta. Cruz Church along Tibasak Road and follows the existing road and goes south straight towards Lower Balulang proper. Note Ground Zero of Sendong tragedy on upper left (Cala-Cala).
This other scheme below shows the route going straight to Balulang from Tibasak Road.
A few weeks ago, the group of Rep. Rufus Rodriguez held a groundbreaking of the project. Photo below shows a tarpaulin posted at the previous location of the bridge. Heavy equipment in the background belongs to the ongoing quarry operations in the area.
When materialized, this will be the 7th bridge crossing Cagayan de Oro River.
