Last week, strong winds uprooted the centuries-old Balete Tree at Lasang Secret Adventure Park in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

Some tourists and travelers were eating inside the restaurant when the tree located right beside it suddenly fell. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

The Balete Tree belongs to the family of Fig trees (from genus Ficus) and is a popular subject in Philippine folklore as a dwelling place for supernatural beings like “kapre” or “tikbalang”.
