Some segments of the river dike projects along Cagayan de Oro River have already been completed.
Shown below is the Puntod-Macabalan Section.
The area at the former CATIMCO compound was the last to be completed in this segment.
Just across on the Kauswagan-Bonbon side is the mangrove area.
You can see provision of stairs as access to the river is part of the dike design.
This compound below was rumored to be re-developed into a commercial complex.
Next shown is the recently-completed dike project at Liceo de Cagayan University.
Liceo’s river boat docking facility was retained.
In the horizon, you could see ongoing dike construction in the vicinity of JR Borja Bridge.
Next shown is the ongoing dike construction at Kauswagan riverside.
A closer look revealed this segment was the last to be undertaken perhaps due to right of way or compensation issues.
Shown below is the whole list of approved
river dike project packages which includes 11 dike segments.
Clearly the Puntod dike project is under No. 1, the Kauswagan section is under Nos. 2, 3 and 4, the Liceo dike up to COA in Carmen is covered under Nos. 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Duaw Park is under No. 10 and the Carmen Ilaya dike (across Paseo del Rio) is under No. 11.
