Residents in Uptown Cagayan de Oro City always refer to the 4-lane wide road bordering the north side of Pueblo de Oro as Macapagal Drive.
This road stretching from junction Lumbia Airport Road (now Masterson Avenue) to Junction at the National Highway in Bulua is indeed MACAPAGAL DRIVE.
A marker is installed at the junction.
Total length is 8.5 kilometers as indicated in the marker. It is also known as WEST DIVERSION ROAD.
However, at the same junction near SM City, a road sign indicates PEDRO “OLOY” N. ROA SR. AVENUE in reference to the former city mayor. As shown, PN Roa Sr Avenue is only 3.3 kilometers long.
PN Roa Sr Avene is a section of Macapagal Drive from Masterson Avenue to PN Roa Subdivision located at Calaanan.
PN Roa Sr Avenue is just what every driver wishes … a tree-lined thoroughfare with no traffic….
In a cramped city like Cagayan de Oro, development of outlying areas seems the only means of having roads like PN Roa Sr Avenue.
But hey, do you know there is a NEW WEST DIVERSION ROAD to be constructed soon? CLUE: It will start at the end of the PN Roa Sr Ave junction as indicated in the map above.
