Cagayan de Oro City again will be a recipient of another project under the USAID’s Cities Development Initiative (CDI). The Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) project aims to help cities to plan better, create more attractive and competitive business environments, link urban and rural centers so that more citizens benefit from rapid economic activity, and provide adequate health and other basic social services.
City Mayor Oscar Moreno attended the SURGE project launch held last August 14 in Makati City which was led by US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg and USAID Mission Director Gloria D. Steele. Other existing CDI cities are Batangas, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Tagbilaran, and Zamboanga). SURGE also aims to cover an additional set of six to nine cities.
