Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU) College of Music in Cagayan de Oro City recently received a Billy Gibbons electric guitar from the U.S. Embassy. Liceo de Cagayan University was chosen to receive the guitar because of the University’s commitment to serve their music students through scholarship programs.

Photo shows U.S. Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer Kristin Kneedler with LDCU Public Affairs Eren Joy Bautista holding the guitar. Others in photo are Regional English Language Officer Dawn Rogier (3rd from right) and Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization, Dr. Teresita T. Tumapon (2nd from right), and other members of the faculty.

The guitar is named after William Frederick “Billy” Gibbons, an American legendary guitarist of the rock band ZZ Top considered as among the top guitarists of all time. Photo below shows Billy Gibbons with his classic ‘Pearly Gates’ guitars.
