The Consumer Welfare and Protection Desk (CWPD) Sails because Government Cares project was recently launched aboard MV Trans Asia 10 while docked at Cagayan de Oro Port last March 11, 2015.

Above photo shows Atty. Armi Jane Roa-Borje, former NTC Commissioner, leading the ribbon cutting aboard the Bohol-bound passenger vessel. The project is aimed at providing free assistance or services to the consumers on any complaints within the agencies’ authority.

As mandated in “NTC Order No. 10-3-2001”, the creation of a One Stop Public Assistance Center (OSPAC) to assist consumers complaints and problems regarding personal communications such as prank phone calls, scam text messages, blocking of lost or stolen mobile phones, defective cellphones, questionable billing charges or insufficient services of telephone companies, also on cable TV providers, the Consumer Welfare and Protection Desk (CWPD) was created and assisted by several Government Agencies such as Philippine Ports Authority, Maritime Industry Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Information Agency, Provincial Governor of Misamis Oriental, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas, Bureau of Internal Revenue, PhilHealth, Regional Association of Government Communicators, and Department of Agriculture.

Incidentally, Atty. Armi Jane Roa-Borje is the author of the OSPAC. She is shown below during the program launch.
