The fourth year Development Communication students of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan will be having their annual exhibit on March 10-12 at Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City. This event will showcase their outputs on sustainability in environmental protection and informed choices for a healthy lifestyle.
This year’s Syagit exhibit is themed, “Sampit sa Dapit, Isyagit!”
As Development Communication students, they have been tasked to educate, share knowledge and disseminate (sampit) information for the consumption of the greater public. The students were assigned to different areas (dapit) in the city namely: Balulang, Burgos, Carmen, Consolacion, and Macasanding to gather information about their community’s issues, concerns, and needs about environmental protection and food security. Their outputs from their semester-long projects will be displayed in the exhibit for the public to view, know and learn from. “Isyagit” in this context, does not literally mean to shout but would mean to publicize.
The students created different communication materials such as fliers, brochures, posters and videos based on this year’s thrust on sustainability which revolves around the care for clean and potable water, disaster risk reduction and management and other issues such as urban gardening for food security.
Talents from the DevCom community and other invited guests would also be showcased in the three-day exhibit. These would include live stage performances of songs from previous DevCom endeavours, special dance numbers and many more.
Admission is totally free.
