The continuing confiscation of hydraulic mining equipment in the upstream portion of Iponan River is finally paying dividends. Shown above is a recent aerial photo taken by Engr. Elpie Paras of Iponan River as it drains into Macajalar Bay.

Note the emerging natural color of the river, a far cry from the previous years where it got the monicker ‘chocolate river’. Kudos to those who worked for its restoration. Hopefully, the upland mining which caused its discoloration will be a thing of the past.
