Cagayan de Oro’s 6th bridge spanning the Cagayan de Oro River, the JR Borja Bridge which links JR Borja Street at the city proper and Max Suniel Street in Carmen, is now open to vehicular traffic with a dry run of a new traffic scheme.

RTA and Task Force Hapsay Dalan were in full force with several personnel stationed at every intersection from Vamenta Boulevard to Burgos Street and to Corrales Avenue.

Series of photos below show a drive through along JR Borja Street going west towards the new bridge.

This is near Persimmon and The Loft Inn near the intersection of JR Borja and Apolinar Velez. Note the left side is now free of parked vehicles.

This photo shows the approach to intersection at Tiano Bros. A temporarily parked delivery van is shown at left.

This is now near the intersection at Capistrano Street. Significantly, the flow of vehicles is smooth.

This is now descending towards Burgos Street. You can see the bridge in the background.

Note the NO PARKING signs placed along the road.

The intersection of the bridge and Burgos Street was basically trouble free.

Since there is no traffic light installed, the interval of waiting time depends on the traffic personnel stationed.

We were able to get out of the bridge in about 5 minutes. Below shows the series of photos as we approach the bridge from Carmen side along Max Suniel Street.

TFHD head Atty. Jose Edgardo Uy (in black shirt) is shown monitoring the situation.

We are now approaching the bridge going east.

You can see the long line of vehicles stalled by the intersection at Vamenta Blvd.

Going east is basically trouble free once you hurdle the intersection at Carmen.

So what’s the initial observation? The stretch along JR Borja from Corrales to Burgos is very manageable. But traffic authorities need to keep an eye at the bridge’s junction at Vamenta Boulevard where traffic build up was noted.
