The First Kinaiyahan Film Festival unfolds on January 20-22, 2015 at Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City. Organized by the Xavier University – Development Communication Department, the festival will feature 11 documentary and short films produced by senior DevCom students.

Below is the schedule of the films’ screening which be held at the 2nd level activity area.

One of the highlight of the event is the showing of “Gikan sa Ngitngit nga Kinailadman” (From the Dark Depths). a short documentary film megged by award-winning documentary filmmaker Kiri Lluch Dalena. The said film is a compilation of stories of lumad and peasant land rights defenders, their fight for their land against destructive agro-industrial plantations, mining, and other resource-extractive industries in Northern Mindanao, and the consequent militarization, extra-judicial killings, and evacuations.
